Amidst a growing awareness of ecological issues, The Machan Lonavala is leading the way in sustainable tourism by maintaining carbon neutrality throughout its operations, including its head offices in Mumbai and The Legacy Mandawa in Rajasthan. This exemplifies that luxury amenities and sustainability can coexist harmoniously, solidifying The Machan’s position as India’s premier carbon-neutral resort since 2021.

In its pursuit of environmental excellence, The Machan has significantly enhanced its sustainability efforts. Last year saw a notable increase in The Machan’s solar energy capacity, expanding its robust 100kW solar system eightfold. Another 60kW expansion is planned for 2024, further reducing reliance on fossil fuel-generated electricity.
The Machan’s environmental commitment extends to augmenting tree cover, with vegetation growing from 12,000 to 13,410 this year through the regeneration of indigenous trees that absorb significant amounts of CO2.
This year, The Machan’s total emissions stood at 750 tCO2e. In response, it acquired 950 carbon credits from the UN CDM platform, offsetting its emissions while generating an additional positive impact of 200 tCO2e. This underscores The Machan’s dedication to surpassing sustainability goals, with a focus on selecting high-quality carbon credits that ensure meaningful environmental contributions.
