Nagaland tourism: PM Modi inaugurates ‘Tribal Cultural Experience’ project

The Tribal Cultural Experience project will offer tourists the chance to stay in traditional cottages, delve into the rich cultural heritage and lifestyle of the people of Nagaland, and savour authentic Naga cuisine.

On Thursday, March 8th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Tribal Cultural Experience” project in the Chumoukedima district of Nagaland. This project, led by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to enhance visitors’ immersion in tribal culture at the Midway Retreat in Tsiepama village, strategically positioned between Kohima and Dimapur, the state’s capital and commercial centers, respectively.

Officials have stated that the Tribal Cultural Experience will provide tourists with the opportunity to immerse themselves in traditional cottages, explore the rich cultural heritage and lifestyle of the Naga people, and savor authentic Naga cuisine. This project was one of 53 inaugurated nationwide by the Prime Minister under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.

The virtual inauguration, conducted from Srinagar, was broadcast live by the Tourism Department, with several state government dignitaries present. State Tourism Commissioner & Secretary Kitto Zhimomi highlighted Nagaland’s potential in the tourism sector, urging the state to seize the opportunity despite missing out on industrial and green revolutions.
