The staff of Greene’s Branding Iron, Curwensville, gathered Feb. 2. with owners Ryan and Patti Greene, Feb. 2, at the restaurant’s opening day.
After much anticipation, the historic Curwensville restaurant, Greene’s Branding Iron, has finally reopened its doors. Owned by Patti and Ryan Greene, the establishment welcomed its first patrons on Friday, February 2nd. The Greenes express their enthusiasm in reviving this integral part of Ryan’s family legacy and the Curwensville community.
“Ryan’s parents were regulars here, often strolling over after Sunday church for a delightful lunch. Many locals have shared fond memories of the Branding Iron, recalling family gatherings, celebrations like weddings, parties, and class reunions held within its walls,” shared Patti Greene.
The Greenes acquired the property at 542 State St., Curwensville, in 2022 and have since renovated the structure, a cherished part of the community since 1970 when John Husak opened the western-style restaurant and bar.
Ryan Greene spearheaded much of the structural restoration himself, while both he and Patti dedicated time outside their day jobs to restore the interior’s original character and charm.
Greene’s Branding Iron boasts a menu with a western flair. “Previously, the Branding Iron featured a steakhouse menu. Now, Greene’s Branding Iron offers a similar menu with a twist. Alongside steaks, we serve seafood, pasta salads, appetizers, and delightful desserts. All our food is made from scratch, embracing farm-to-table principles and offering gluten-free and vegetarian options for a healthier dining experience,” explained Patti Greene.
The culinary talents of Chef Jamison Kendrick have been instrumental in bringing creativity to the menu.
“We feel fortunate to have him on board, utilizing his culinary background and skills to enhance our offerings,” added Patti Greene.
The couple’s aim is to provide the community with another exceptional dining option. “We want to give back to the community and ensure every guest has an outstanding experience during their visit,” expressed Patti Greene.
Currently, the restaurant operates on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-9 p.m., with reservations recommended. Patrons can leave their name and number for reservations throughout the week, with staff checking and returning calls promptly.
Plans are underway to expand operating hours, reintroduce Sunday brunch, and accommodate events in the banquet room. The Greenes have also secured a liquor license and are in the process of opening the bar, pending state inspection and compliance with regulations.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive feedback and support from the community. It’s truly been heartening to see such a positive response. It speaks volumes about the wonderful people in this community,” remarked Patti Greene.
